Is a Teacup Puppy Dog
the Right Dog for Me?

Sometimes people are so “hungry” to get a teacup dog or puppy that they get the first one they see without doing any research.  They then wind up paying a huge monetary – and emotional – price later down the line.  Please get educated now -- it's an investment in your future.  There's a huge difference between seeing a photo of such an adorable dog and caring for one on a daily basis.

Put more time into choosing a puppy or dog – teacup or otherwise – than in choosing your car!

You’re bringing home a living, breathing animal that’s going to be with you a long time.  The more you know, the better dog you will get in the long run – and you may even decide that getting a teacup is not right for you.

I cannot stress enough the importance of meeting the breeder and seeing how the puppy was raised.  If you absolutely must buy online, then avoid the scams.

How much care do teacup puppies and dogs need?

Teacups like to be with their people all the time and can bark, have separation anxiety, and other behavior and health issues.

Teacup puppies take three to four dedicated hours per day (with the potty training and other training), and adult dogs take a little less.  But you are always “on call.”

What does all this mean in Real Life?

Teacups are different. Even if you've had a dog before, they require more care than a larger dog. Teacups are tiny dogs that need attention 24/7, especially with teacup puppies.  Having a teacup puppy is equivalent to having a newborn baby.
